Since October 19th, the Annapolis Police Department has responded to several businesses throughout the Annapolis area reporting a subject attempting to obtain credit card information from these businesses on the telephone. The subject identified himself as "Detective Robert Clark" of the Annapolis Police Department, then asked the business representatives for credit card information from previous sales. Several businesses have been targeted, and it is unknown how many other business have been contacted. It is not a common practice of the Annapolis Police Department to contact any businesses, and/or individual to request credit card information over the telephone. If you have been targeted by this suspect, or have any information in reference to these incidents please contact the Annapolis Police Department immediately, at 410 268-9000, or 410 268-4141.

At the City of Annapolis' Economic Development Office's
Second Annual Small & Minority Business Enterprise Symposium on May 24, is the focus was on BRAC - the Department of Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission. Its recommendations will lead to the addition of thousands of jobs in Anne Arundel County, in all sorts of businesses, by the year 2010. The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Office of Military Affairs, provided a booklet for businesses interested in getting in on the upcoming economic boom.
